A #BellyBlessed #Throwback: Pregnancy Portraits Shared
Going into our annual Mommy Mundo event, Belly Blessed Fest, I thought it would be nice if my mom friends and I, led by the Mommy Mundo SoMoms, would post their photos of themselves when they were still pregnant. Timed perfectly on the famous weekly social media occasion #throwbackthursday during which people would post old photos on their Instagram and Twitter accounts, it became a social media occasion of epic contractions, er, proportions.Out of the 25 SoMoms, only one of us, Pam of Runaroundgirl is currently expecting, so for the rest of us it would really be a throwback nostalgia post. For most SoMoms, though the nostalgia would just be recent news unlike myself whose last pregnancy happened more than seven years ago...So in the morning of July 10, I posted my own #BellyBlessed #Throwbackthursday photo with Reese in my belly. Then Gary posted my super throwback photo with Zach in my tummy, and Coby who was around 2 years old then. It was not only a look back into my past as a mom, but also a throwback into maternity fashion. That was in 1999 and jumpsuits were all the rage, thanks to the popular mom and baby boutique, Big & Small Co. which was owned by friend and fellow mompreneur, Joanna Ongpin-Duarte.Then i started seeing posts of the Somoms , some of which I am sharing below. It was so much fun seeing everyone in their "expectant glory"...some of the photos made me feel like there was a true "generation gap" when the youngest SoMom Jackie who posted her super chic fashion posts.:)Michelle who teaches yoga is just a picture of peace in this captured pose... By the end of the day, more than 300+ joined in the fun of the #Bellyblessed throwback campaign. Amazing! From the posts on Instagram, here are just some of my favorite pregnancy photos:Under the sea.Sexy bumpDraped dramaUrban mom-to-beFrom gorj to glamand charmingly funny!I ended the day on such a high, I loved seeing moms celebrating their belly blessedness, the miracle of pregnancy, and the life they were carrying inside. It was a showcase of modern motherhood, with moms exuding confidence and pride in showing off their growing bellies, and each photo reflecting the personality of each mom-to-be, and in some cases, dads-to-be, and even the kuyas and ates-to-be.This is also why I just love what I do. Whatever love and passion I put into Mommy Mundo is returned in even bigger ways than one can imagine, as moms inspire other moms, sharing emotional and experiential connections with each other even if we've never personally met. Thank you mom friends for joining in the #bellyblessed celebration!Search #Bellyblessed on Instagram and view all the photos as well as photos of the recently concluded Belly Blessed Fest..
