The "Chicago" Experience
Ever since Smart rolled out the announcements for this musical, I've been excitedly awaiting the gala. As of Smart's blog partners and being a new Infinity subscriber myself, it was such a treat to be able to watch the Broadway musical for during its first staging in Manila.I've only known about Chicago through write-ups I've read and Broadway reviews, so I thoroughly enjoyed watching as a newbie and see the storyline unravel through the captivating songs and dances of the talented cast.A live orchestra provided the excellent background to lyrics and narratives. We found out later on that the 14 musicians were all Filipino, hired just through video auditions. The ensemble only got to rehearse four hours prior to this big night and in spite of this limitation provided the perfect music for the show. It was not surprising to Chicago's conductor, Henry Billig who was all too familiar with Filipinos' talent in music and theatre, that they managed to do excellently. Also worth noting were Bianca Marroquin who played Roxie Hart and Terra MacLeod as Velma Kelly, the two American Broadway stars who headlined the show.Powerful voices from these three womenInside the newest theatre venue in Manila, The Theatre at Solaire Resort and Casino, Gary and I felt blessed to be among the Infinity subscribers, members of the press and also Visa cardholders who were able to watch the gala.Bumped into college friends, Yvette Fernandez, eic of Town & Country, and Aneth Ng Lim of Citibank.I took the time to congratulate Julie Carceller, head of Smart Infinity, for again giving her subscribers another special treat and night to remember. Chicago is the latest successful Smart Infinity sponsored local run, after other world-class stage spectacles like ‘Cats,’ ‘Mamma Mia,’ ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ and ‘Wicked.’It was indeed another memorable night for us!To learn more about Smart Infinity, check the website here.---Smart Infinity is also the first to launch iPhone 6 and iPhone6 plus last November 14.
